5 TIPS TO GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE

We fear change as much as we fear losing money ! So that’s a dead-end, right ?!

We fear change because our mind’s only job is to keep us alive : SURVIVAL (note to self: it is not to make us happy or successful).
It is trying to keep us in our comfort zone. And sometimes, this so-called comfort zone is not so comfortable at all, it is filled with stress, uncertainties, frustrations … but we get used to them, they become acceptable and soon enough they become part of this so-called comfort zone.

As a result, the effort required to get out of this “fake” comfort zone seems greater than the discomfort of staying in there. In other words, creating change is more painful than the pain of not changing anything. We end up living an average life of discomfort.
THIS IS LUDICROUS. THIS IS A TRICK OF THE MIND TO KEEP YOU PLAYING SMALL

Example : Your job is über stressful and not fulfilling you anymore at all, but you stick with it! Your husband … haha (sorry, couldn’t help myself !)
YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN ?

There is tons of research out there demonstrating that growth, life satisfaction, confidence, happiness, success … are just on the other side of our comfort zone!
I am not telling you to quit your job or slam the door on your hubby but rather to get out of your comfort zone, to grow, to feel alive, to find your purpose (or your soulmate), to take your career to the next level … to live your life, to create extraordinary in an ocean of routine and ordinary

Here are 5 steps of get out of your comfort zone and embrace change

1- STOP

We all live like hamsters in a wheel, pedalling away at fast speed but not knowing where we are going. Super stressed, too much to do, not enough time in the day. We sometimes are not even aware of our discomfort

2- RELAX + DECIDE

We are so wired all the time that we can’t always think straight. Those of you who have attended one of Stress Buster workshops will know what I am talking about. Relax, go for a run, yoga class, go boxing, walk in a park, take a bath … whatever it is that helps you relax. When we are relaxed, the processing centers in our brain related to clarity and decision making are much more performant. And then, clearly identify what you need to change, for your own good.

3- WORST CASE SCENARIO

The brain will do it anyway, it will create lots of catastrophic scenarii of things going wrong. It is very creative when it comes to hold you back. These are all fear driven and 99% of the time, not realistic at all. So don’t sweat it, go quickly to step 4 if need be or straight to step 5, even better

4- COMMIT

You must make the commitment to do it! Write it on a post it note you will see everyday, tell your partner, friends, colleagues … because if you don’t commit, the brain will keep on with its catastrophic scenarii until you change your mind (for the wrong reasons). If you commit, it’s just a little harder to give up

5- DO IT

Just do it!
